Grolsch

Danny Sangra’s bottled talent

Over a couple of weekends in February, Danny Sangra embarked on a collaboration with Leo Burnett and Grolsch. The events took place in Spitalfields and Birmingham, and saw him drawing on photographic portraits taken of people at the events.

Now that both events are over, Danny has picked out some of his favourite drawings from the weekends, which we’re pleased to present here. The idea is that some of Danny’s instantly customised portraits will appear on special packs of Grolsch in the near future.

As previously advertised, Danny put in an appearance at Spitalfields last weekend creating live illustrations in cahoots with Leo Burnett for Grolsch. He was drawing on photos of people attending the event, and you can see some of the results here.

But Danny was just getting warmed up. He’ll be drawing on more people’s photographed faces in Birmingham this weekend, 11 and 12 February. As before, some of the portraits he creates will wind up on packs of Grolsch beer. We’ll update you on the West Midlands adventure after the event.

Over two sets of weekends, Danny is going to be working with Leo Burnett for Grolsch, creating live illustrations. And he could be doing it on your face. Photos will be taken of people attending the event and Danny will then draw on their portraits right there. There’s more – the live portraits he creates could then be used on packs of Grolsch beer. Now that’s fame.

The event is taking place at Spitalfields market this coming weekend – 4 and 5 February – between 10am and 7pm. Be there and put yourself in the picture.

Danny’s recently been spending a bit of time on some personal work, following the Hollywood premiere of his feature length film debut Goldbricks in Bloom back in November 2016.

The pieces, as you can see here, are playful collages involving language, ladies and gentlemen, and lines. Plus, a few pom-poms. What does it all mean? Only Danny knows. So, all we can do is look, and wonder, for now.

Earlier this month Danny Sangra was commissioned as one of the artists involved to created visuals for a Nike hosted dinner, where his design became a bespoke table top for the event, put on by Seen. Here is a detail of Danny’s design.
