Danny Sangra – Title design for new feature
Brutal-ish
Danny’s next feature film is on its way. We haven’t seen it yet and know nothing about it, other than its title – ‘Mostly Brutal’ – and the work-in-progress Danny has been doing on the title design. We’ll let Danny explain what you’re seeing here:
“I’ve been drawing on beauty mags since I was a kid in my mum’s salon – while regulars chatted under dryers and the smell of perm solution drifted through the air. It’s still how I work out ideas and play with layouts. That instinct shaped the title designs for my film, Mostly Brutal.”
So, what can we discern about the film from this work? There are French references, including to Maison de la Bonne Presse, who were involved in the very early days of cinema. And time is mentioned a few times. Then we have a crazyhorse, a master of surrealism, possibly Mae West’s keys. And it’s definitely not ‘Die Hard’.
What can all this mean? Have you met Danny? Almost certainly nothing obvious. So, perhaps, as one caption suggests, we should simply ‘Accept the mystery’. For now. We’ll let you know more as soon as we do.
