Andy Gilmore – New works with paint
Painting a picture
New work from Andy is always welcome, but there’s something different about this latest group of pieces. They all feature Andy’s signature style of geometric designs with straight and curved lines, but this time he’s also added paint. In all but one case the painted areas are exactly symmetrical, in alignment with the symmetry of his line-work. They appear to have been created as fold paintings – paint put on one side of the paper, which is then folded down the middle to create a Rorschach-like painted mirror image. The final one, however, shows a more varied arrangement of paint, resembling some kind of galactic event.
