Shahrzad Kamel is an artist and an independent book publisher based in New York City since 2005.
The aim for the Our Time series is to photograph each creative in locations that are personal and meaningful to them. So, whilst Shahrzad was back in London visiting, we shot these portraits together, at The Holly Bush pub in Hampstead. A beautiful, historic pub, that holds fond memories for Shahrzad, of time spent there whilst living in London.
She says, “For me, Hampstead is a place that is steeped not only in my own childhood memories but also in those of a bygone age. Every time I go back to this magical village I enjoy walking around the narrow side streets and taking in the eclectic architecture. I love to spend time in my favourite bookstore, reading in Keats’ garden, and reconnecting with friends in old haunts like The Holly Bush.“
