Entering the fourth dimension
In 1941, science fiction author Robert Heinlein wrote a short story called ‘– And He Built a Crooked House –’, about an architect who built a house designed to be a three-dimensional plan of a tesseract – a four-dimensional hypercube. Unfortunately, an earthquake collapses the building into its four-dimensional form, trapping its occupants in an impossible space. A couple of years ago, Andy named one of his pieces ‘Tesseract’ and it looks like here he’s continuing his experiments to create a two-dimensional image of a three-dimensional plan for a four-dimensional structure. Our money’s on him creating it in all its dimensions at some point. Just don’t be tempted to step inside.
