Maisy Summer – Voices of the Future
Good things come in trees
Maisy has been involved with the Voices of the Future project to help engage and involve children with the natural world. In particular, the project aims to collaborate with children in creating and caring for treescapes that will benefit the environment and wider society in the future. It’s a long-term project across the UK and the world that seeks to listen to children’s experiences with nature rather than simply teach them.
So far, Maisy has created illustrations for their website, and toolkits. She’s also run workshops for 90 year 5 children at Seymour Park Community School in Manchester to help them put together an environmental manifesto that will appear on billboards across Manchester and Liverpool. The manifesto expresses their dreams and demands in their own words. Even the title font was co-created by them with Maisy’s help.
