Mono
A pair of new works from Andy Gilmore that come under the collective title ‘Mono’. Perhaps ironically, ‘mono’ is usually a prefix that can mean alone or single, which these two clearly are not. Or it could be an abbreviation of ‘monochrome’, which one is, though not the other. Or perhaps the concentric circles represent monophonic soundwaves coming from a speaker. Maybe the title is simply a comment on the state in which many of us have been living in recent months.
Whichever way you decide to interpret them, or even don’t feel any need for interpretation at all, we can probably agree that they are singularly beautiful.
