Making an intervention at CCK

Paula Castro has just run an open workshop called ‘Originales menos perfectos’ at the CCK centre for contemporary art in Buenos Aires. This roughly translates as ‘Less perfect originals’ and was a result of Paula originally being asked to perform an intervention in the work of Claudia del Río, currently the subject of an exhibition called ‘Temporary Survival’ at CCK. The idea was to get anyone who joined the workshop to copy an original work by Claudia del Río, but through a series of exercises to also see whether in doing so they could create something original.

The artist Claudia del Río was born and still works in Rosario, and has been teaching at the National University of Rosario since 1989.

The CCK is the Centro Cultural Kirchner and is housed in a striking building, formerly the old Post Office Building in Buenos Aires, and is almost a greater artwork itself than some of the pieces it holds.
