To close the series where we invited Breed artists to choose a piece of their own work that stood out for them, for whatever reason, we asked Breed’s director Olivia Triggs to do the same, selecting one item created by one of Breed’s artists.
What piece have you chosen?
It was a very hard ask to select just one piece from the countless incredible images from all the artists. Difficult!
But, because I had to, I picked something by Danny Sangra.
Why is this special to you?
It’s a piece that never fails to make me laugh and totally sums up Danny. I love the fact it’s both a simple collage piece but also strong on type and message, and a perfect example of Danny’s unique view of the world. Plus, every time I see the word zap I can’t help but smile. It’s a piece of art more than an illustration and I’d love to have it framed and on the wall.
What’s the story behind it?
I think it was from a project Danny worked on with Burberry which gave him access to their archive of printed material.
Or it could be a personal piece.

So, the story. I was in Paris, staying there for a while in a hotel I often stay at. This was a personal piece, which I think was maybe just before Burberry. Not sure if Burbs would have let me get away with this one.
The story, which I don’t think I can fully disclose, had come from a conversation which I then turned into something with more rhythm (and fortunately less description and detail than an audience may want!)
And I may have to do you your own version of this because a friend of mine who loves horses and riding bought it from me years ago. I think you asked for it just after I sold it to her. I think I’d posted it online. I realised I have a lot of horsey girlfriends.
Actually, I think this was part of the work I did for my Yeah Sure Real Mature show in LA. Which was basically me let loose with all my sexual innuendos, thoughts, or other people’s conversations with me.
Honestly, I’m so glad this one was picked. It’s one of my favourites too.
