Bankside creative agency NB Studio, in conjunction with Better Bankside, have decided that their locale needs its own official flag and invited some of London’s top creatives to come up with their own designs. And James Joyce is one of the invitees. You can see his design here.
The brief outlines the history of the Bankside area as a place of entertainment and dissolute pleasure, and suggests the flag should reflect the independent attitude that exists in the area to this day, inspiring creative curiosity.
The commission is part of the London Design Festival and during the festival, the 60 flags will be hung along Jubilee Place in Borough Market. Afterwards the flags will be auctioned to benefit local charities, and one of the designs chosen by the Bankside Committee to become the official Bankside flag.
