Phillippa Mills has produced a new personal piece – a portrait of her horse, who probably has wings (but only on Wednesdays) which initially inspired a piece of writing. In turn, the words inspired an image. We present both words and picture here for you.
Sidesaddle
“Did your Mother
never tell you
‘It’s Rude to Stare!’
Sniffed the horse
with a snort.
‘And besides which,
it’s not a stump.
It is a
Relaxed wing.’
‘Utter rot! I’m
designed for Sidesaddle.
When I was born
there were two of us
and only one set of
wings.
The other half of me
is somewhere else
you see.”
