James Joyce – Sleeve design for Secret 7” 2025
A secret to keep
War Child presents Secret 7” returned this year, and James was amongst the artists taking part.
You may remember that Secret 7” saw seven music artists contributing exclusive tracks to be committed to 7” vinyl with sleeves designed by artists. Each 7” single is pressed in a limited edition of 100, with each sleeve being created by a different artist. That’s 700 unique singles in all. This year, all 700 sleeves were on display at the NOW Gallery, Greenwich Peninsula from 11 April, before being auctioned online. But the identity of the artists involved and which musician you bid on remained a secret until all the bids had been made. Which is why we weren’t able to tell you about James’s involvement until now. All the money raised goes towards War Child, a charity which provides aid, education, and support to children and families in war zones around the world.
This year the musical artists involved included The Cure, Keane, Scissor Sisters, Gregory Porter and Frank Turner.
James designed the sleeve you see here for The Cure’s ‘Warsong’ recorded live at their Troxy show last year.
