The Story of M

You might remember some time ago we presented a personal piece by Neal called ‘The Letter D’, an extraordinarily detailed work channelling centuries-old maps and fairy tales. Now he presents a second letter with a new piece ‘The Story of M’. All pencil on paper, it again takes cues from medieval maps and illustration, apparently portraying a sea-bound city state with walls in the shape of the titular letter. Is this another part of an ongoing series? What is the story behind the image? Neal, ever mysterious, is giving nothing away. And anyway, why would you need to know more when you can just enjoy the image, discovering new details every time you look?
