Cat Garcia has photographed the winners of the 2019, and inaugural, Vanity Fair Changing Your Mind Awards.
The Awards, created in association with Leica, celebrate individuals who demonstrate new ways to think about travel. The winners include Peruvian super chefs Virgilio Martínez and Pía Leon, whose restaurant Central in Lima carefully sources and uses local ingredients in their dishes. And Jo Buitendach, whose walking tours focusing on the street art and creative side of Johannesburg aim to change negative views of the city.
Cat’s portraits capture each of the winners in the places that mean so much to them, and saw her travelling to South Africa, Peru, India and Finland as well as London.
A selection of images from the series are featured in the new Hollywood Issue of Vanity Fair, out 1st February.
