When Andy Gilmore was naming this new series of pieces he might have settled on something descriptive of the graceful curves, or the precision of their execution, or maybe a piece of music that informed the flow of the coloured stripes across the page while he was working. Instead, he chose to call the series ‘Verdant’ focusing on the more sober greens that seem to serve to keep the brighter colours from overwhelming the page. And that just goes to show there’s no point trying to guess what Andy will do in any given situation, but just enjoy where he takes you.
