About

Inspiring creativity. Founded by Olivia Triggs in 2007, Breed is a London-based illustration agency representing a select group of highly individual talents. We currently look after the work of 15 artists, illustrators and photographers, each with their own distinct style and perspective.

We pride ourselves on both the vision and variety of our artists and the lasting role we play in nurturing their talent, supporting their creative goals and finding opportunities where they can further explore their abilities.

With a hands-on approach, a culturally aware outlook and a spirited attitude, we’re the UK’s go-to agency for original art, photography and illustration.

We work with clients in spheres ranging from advertising and brands to fashion and retail and more. Below you can see a few of the names we’ve worked with in recent months.

Bio

Yelena’s family moved to the United States from Cold War era Ukraine when she was 11. Her 14th birthday present from her father was a Minolta 35mm camera. Those two events helped shape her future creative life.

She studied at Parson School of Design in New York and Pasadena’s ArtCenter College of Design. Yelena quickly established herself as a photographer, with her images appearing in Another Magazine, iD, Dazed & Confused, and Italian, British and Japanese Vogue. She also worked on ad campaigns for Kenzo, Dries Van Noten and Cacharel.

Not content with working solely in still imagery, Yelena has also made music videos and experimental films.

After nearly a decade of success with a camera, Yelena decided to broaden her palette and taught herself to draw and paint with exhibitions of her work under her belt at the Dactyl Foundation the Spring Break Art Show and Eric Firestone Gallery in New York, and at the Hosfelt Gallery in San Francisco. And it’s here that we come in, as we represent her for her illustrative work.

Whichever medium she’s working in, Yelena’s work takes cues from the dark humour of surreal dream logic and the filmscapes of Maya Deren and Cocteau. Her imagery tries to suggest the complexity of individual human stories by stepping away from the purely subjective to look from different perspectives.

In 2011 her first book, ‘Gidropark’, was published, documenting summers along the Dnieper River in her native Ukraine, a place she describes as a ‘Soviet version of Coney Island’. It was followed by the monographs ‘ANNA’ in 2017 and her latest, ‘Odessa’, should be out soon.
